Job summary

Lancashire County Council’s School Catering Service is seeking a Catering Assistant at St Mary's C of E Primary School, Kirby Lonsdale. This part-time role runs 17 hours per week, term time only, with a fixed term until 23 July 2027. You will help prepare and serve healthy meals and ensure pupils have a safe lunchtime experience.

Join a busy team responsible for over 60,000 meals daily across 500+ schools, supporting children’s nutrition and development with hands-on meal service and care.

Qualifications

• Must be reliable and dependable.
• Works well as part of a team.
• Can remain calm during busy periods.
• Has good customer service and communication skills.
• Experience in catering and food preparation is essential.
• Can cover the Unit Catering Supervisor role when needed.

Responsibilities

• Set up dining area and arrange furniture for service.
• Assist with preparation and cooking of food.
• Serve meals and drinks to pupils.
• Clear dining area and store away furniture after service.
• Clean equipment, kitchen and dining areas.
• Help the team serve meals safely and efficiently.
