Job summary

Scottish Borders Council is seeking a Pupil Support Assistant to support children with communication, mobility and personal care in a school setting. The role is term-time only, 14 hours per week, on a permanent basis, with duties including supervision, resource preparation and collaboration with teaching staff.

No formal qualifications are required, and on-the-job training will be provided. Enquiries can be directed to Carn Peaston; software and safeguarding protocols are in place.

Qualifications

• No formal qualifications are required, but an acceptable standard of school education is desirable.
• On the job training may be provided as needed.

Responsibilities

• Assist with communication, written tasks and the use of IT as needed.
• Support pupils with mobility, self care and personal hygiene.
• Assist with toileting, feeding and medication after appropriate training.
• Supervise pupils during intervals and lunch times.
• Prepare resources and materials for lessons and activities.
• Liaise with Head Teacher, Class Teacher and Learning Support Teacher as required.
• Contribute to progress reports and planning discussions.
