Job summary

Leventhorpe Academy in Sawbridgeworth is seeking a passionate Learning Resources Centre Assistant to support the library, organise resources and promote reading for pleasure during term time.

Responsibilities include guiding students, managing the LRC, supervising users, maintaining resources, and assisting with events. The role requires GCSEs in Maths/English, a love of children's literature, and SEN awareness.

Qualifications

• GCSEs in Maths and English at 4-9 (A*-C)
• Experience in a similar role
• Computer literate with strong MS Office skills
• Strong knowledge and love of children’s literature
• Compassionate and caring with an understanding of students with SEN
• Ability to communicate effectively with the school community
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Willingness to learn and develop professionally

Responsibilities

• Provide guidance and assistance to students and staff on information retrieval and reading materials to encourage independent learning
• Promote an atmosphere conducive to reading and learning and supervise study areas
• Supervise LRC users during the day and after school, ensuring a safe learning space
• Maintain and record the use of library resources, including digital resources
• Use library management software effectively
• Assist in maintaining a good range of reading materials for all ages
• Inspire students to read widely
• Engage with events (World Book Day etc.) and promote awareness via LRC resources
• Assist with organizing and training volunteers to support day-to-day LRC operations
• Provide IT equipment and printer support
• Register ad-hoc students as required
• Any other duties as required by the LRC Manager
