Job summary

Sodexo is seeking a Kitchen Porter at Hampton (TW12 3HF) to support cleaning, dishwashing and front-of-house readiness in a school catering setting. The role emphasizes safety, hygiene and adherence to government regulations to provide a first-class food offer.

The position requires enhanced DBS clearance, catering experience and good personal hygiene. The role operates Monday to Friday, 8:00–15:30, during term time with 34.4 working weeks plus holidays.

Qualifications

• Enhanced DBS clearance required.
• Experience in catering or food service preferred.
• Good personal hygiene standards.

Responsibilities

• Wash and clean dishes, pots, pans, trays, and all kitchen utensils using commercial dishwashing equipment.
• Ensure the dining hall is clean, organised, and ready for service.
• Clean and maintain heavy kitchen equipment.
• Ensure all kitchen surfaces, floors, and storage areas are always kept clean and hygienic.
• Follow daily and weekly deep cleaning schedules.
• Remove and dispose of waste and recycling correctly, ensuring bins are emptied and cleaned regularly and in a timely manner.
• Assist with basic food preparation (e.g. peeling, chopping) when required.
• Unpack and store deliveries safely, ensuring proper stock rotation (FIFO).
• Restock clean kitchen equipment, crockery, and cutlery to service areas.
• Comply with all Food Safety, Health & Safety, and COSHH regulations.
• Report any faulty equipment or maintenance issues.
• Support the wider kitchen team during busy service periods.
• To report immediately any incidents of fire, theft, loss, damage, unfit food or other irregularities and take such action as may be appropriate or possible.
• To report any customer complaints and take action, if at all possible.
• To attend any reasonable requests made by the Manager.
