Job description

About The Role

Are you passionate about making a positive difference to people's lives? Do you want to work in a role where every day brings new challenges, opportunities and rewards? We are looking for a committed and compassionate Tenancy Support Worker to join our Accommodation Service within Housing Solutions at North Northamptonshire Council.

The Accommodation Service plays a vital role in preventing and relieving homelessness across North Northamptonshire. We provide a range of accommodation and support services, including temporary accommodation, supported accommodation projects, rough sleeping services and tenancy sustainment support.

You will be joining a supportive and experienced team managed by the Accommodation Services Manager, alongside a Team Leader, three Senior Officers and a team of dedicated Tenancy Support Workers. Together, we work to help some of the most vulnerable members of our communities achieve stability, independence and positive outcomes.

This is a fantastic opportunity to build a rewarding career in housing, homelessness and support services while making a genuine impact on people's lives.

What will you be doing?

No two days are the same in this varied and rewarding role. You will provide practical, person-centred support to individuals with a history of rough sleeping and complex needs who are living within the Council's supported accommodation and temporary accommodation services.

Key Responsibilities Will Include

  • Delivering one-to-one support sessions tailored to individual needs.

  • Developing, reviewing and updating support plans and risk assessments.

  • Undertaking welfare visits and property inspections.

  • Supporting residents to access benefits, healthcare and specialist support services.

  • Promoting independent living skills, wellbeing and tenancy sustainment.

  • Working closely with partner agencies and attending multi-agency meetings.

  • Supporting residents to overcome barriers and progress towards independent living.

  • Identifying and responding appropriately to safeguarding concerns.

  • Maintaining accurate case records and monitoring outcomes.

About You

We are looking for someone who is empathetic, resilient and passionate about supporting people to achieve their goals.

You Will Have

  • Experience of working with vulnerable people, ideally within housing, homelessness, support, social care or related services.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships and maintain professional boundaries.

  • An understanding of the challenges faced by people experiencing homelessness, rough sleeping or complex needs.

  • The ability to manage a varied workload and work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

  • Good organisational and record-keeping skills.

  • A commitment to safeguarding, equality, diversity and inclusion.

  • A proactive, solution-focused approach and a genuine desire to help people improve their circumstances.

In return, you will gain valuable experience in homelessness prevention, housing support, tenancy sustainment, safeguarding and multi-agency working. We actively support learning and development through training opportunities, professional development and exposure to a broad range of housing services, providing excellent opportunities to progress into specialist, senior or management roles within the service.
