Job summary

Kier Group plc. is seeking a practical Temporary Works Design Engineer to join our civil, structural or geotechnical team across the UK.

You will contribute to the delivery of temporary works solutions on a diverse portfolio of projects, from design through to construction, with access to Kier's extensive project pipeline. You'll produce and check design outputs, lead smaller projects, and support preconstruction planning while maintaining safety and buildability standards.

Qualifications

• Experience in temporary works design and/or management.
• Knowledge of applicable design standards.
• Ability to review designs for buildability and safety.

Responsibilities

• Producing, checking and reviewing design outputs such as calculations, sketches, drawings, 3D models, reports and risk assessments.
• Acting as Project Lead for simpler projects, managing technical scope, programme and budget.
• Developing processes and systems to improve efficiency and meet challenges.

Job Description Temporary Works Design Engineer We're looking for civil, structural and/or geotechnical engineers to join our team in various locations around the UK.

Locations: Birmingham / Bristol / Cambridge / Cardiff / Glasgow / Leeds / Liverpool / London / Manchester / Newcastle / Norwich / Plymouth - agile working, with up to 1-2 days per week from home if desired.

Hours: 40 hours per week - flexibility on hours available if desired.

Salary: Starting from £40k per annum.

Join us as a Temporary Works Design Engineer and become part of one of the UK's leaders in temporary works design and management and construction-related technical services. As part of our 100-strong team, you'll get to work on hundreds of projects across one of the most diverse and high-profile portfolios in the country, with access to Kier's £11bn+ project pipeline - supporting complex construction and major infrastructure schemes from concept, services, including some or all of: temporary works design and checking, reviewing permanent designs for compliance and buildability, supporting tenders and preconstruction planning, and providing technical support to overcome construction-stage and post-construction issues and defects.

Main responsibilities

• Producing, checking and reviewing design outputs such as calculations, sketches, drawings, 3D models, reports and risk assessments, ensuring compliance with CDM, SHE procedures and QA processes
• Acting as Project Lead for simpler projects, managing technical scope, programme, budget and relationships with preconstruction and construction teams, from bid through to delivery
• Developing yourself, contributing to the continuous improvement of processes and systems, enabling the business to adapt to current and future challenges.

Working towards Chartered Engineer or Incorporated Engineer status (CEng or IEng) or of equivalent experience? Do you...
