Job summary

BYLOR is delivering part of the Hinkley Point C civil works with a dynamic, multidisciplinary team. This role focuses on designing and managing temporary works in line with BS5975, while collaborating closely with delivery and design teams to ensure safe, efficient construction activities.

You will produce robust design documentation and support continuous learning within a major UK project, contributing to high-quality outcomes on a landmark infrastructure programme.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of experience in Temporary Works Design within the UK.
• Proficient in BS5975 and BS/EC standards.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

Responsibilities

• Design and manage temporary works designs in compliance with BS5975 standards.

• Prepare detailed design documentation and reports (Digital Engineering team to provide drawings).

Bouygues Travaux Publics (TP) and Laing O’Rourke, two of Europe’s most dynamic engineering and construction specialists, are working together in a joint venture named BYLOR to deliver the main civil engineering works at Hinkley Point C (HPC) worth over £2.8 billion.

Key responsibilities and specific accountabilities:

• Design and Development: Create and manage temporary works designs in compliance with BS5975 standards.
• Collaboration: Work closely with the Delivery Teams and Methods/Temporary Works Design team to develop safe and efficient solutions.
• Problem Solving: Provide innovative and practical design solutions to support construction activities.
• Quality Assurance: Ensure all designs meet required safety and quality standards.
• Documentation: Prepare detailed design documentation and reports (Digital Engineering Team will create drawings and models).

Essential skills & knowledge:

• Experience: Minimum 5 years of experience in Temporary Works Design within the UK.
• Knowledge: Proficient in BS5975 and BS/EC standards.
• Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Communication: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.

Additional Information:

All positions with Bylor are employed directly with either Laing O’Rourke or Bouygues Travaux Public and include competitive salaries, private medical insurance, company pension schemes and annual holiday allowance. Some grades will also include a company car allowance.

Unless stated otherwise all positions are based at Hinkley Point C in Somerset.
