Job summary

Trial Balance Consulting are working with a fast-growing business on the outskirts of Exeter to recruit a temporary Management Accountant. The role is until the end of October and offers the chance to hit the ground running within a supportive finance team.

You will prepare monthly management accounts, perform balance sheet reconciliations, and support budgeting/forecasting with strong Excel skills and a proactive, hands-on approach.

Temporary Management Accountant -Exeter (Outskirts) - £40,000 - £50,000 FTE

Trial Balance Consulting are delighted to be working exclusively with one of our long-standing and highly valued clients, a successful and rapidly growing business on the outskirts of Exeter. They are looking to recruit an experienced Management Accountant on a temporary basis, until the end of October.

This opportunity has arisen because the business has successfully recruited a permanent Management Accountant who is currently serving a three-month notice period with their existing employer. To ensure a smooth handover and provide additional support to the finance team during this transition, our client is looking to appoint an experienced professional who can hit the ground running until the permanent employee joins later this year.

Working closely with an experienced Financial Controller and a supportive senior leadership team, this is a broad and varied role where you'll play a key part in keeping the finance function running smoothly during a busy period. You'll be given plenty of autonomy and the opportunity to make a real impact from day one.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Preparing monthly management accounts
• Completing balance sheet reconciliations, accruals and prepayments
• Supporting budgeting and forecasting processes
• Monitoring cashflow and producing associated analysis
• Assisting with statutory returns and year-end reporting
• Overseeing credit control and supplier payment processes
• Producing financial reports and commercial analysis
• Identifying opportunities to improve financial processes and controls
• Business partnering with operational managers and stakeholders across the organisation

You'll already have experience in a finance role with solid exposure to management accounting responsibilities and will be confident producing month-end information with minimal supervision. Strong Excel skills, excellent attention to detail and a proactive, hands‑on approach are essential.

This role would suit a qualified accountant, a part‑qualified ACCA or CIMA professional, or an experienced Management Accountant who is available to start quickly and is looking for an interesting short‑term assignment.
