Job summary

Chefs for Chefs is seeking an experienced Head Chef to lead a nursery kitchen in Uxbridge on a temporary assignment. The role focuses on nutritious, age-appropriate meals and compliance with safeguarding and dietary needs. Previous nursery or childcare kitchen leadership is an advantage, with training in food hygiene and allergen awareness required.

You will oversee kitchen operations, manage staff, orders, stock, and records while ensuring a clean, compliant environment for young children.

Qualifications

• Experience preparing meals for children or working in a nursery or childcare setting is an advantage.

What You’ll Be Doing

You’ll oversee the nursery kitchen and help ensure meals are prepared and served safely and on schedule. Your responsibilities will include:

• Planning and preparing nutritious, age-appropriate meals in line with the nursery’s menus and requirements.

• Leading and supporting kitchen staff during food preparation and service.

• Managing food orders, stock, and kitchen organization.

• Following food hygiene, allergen, and health and safety procedures.

• Carefully managing dietary requirements and communicating relevant information to the nursery team.

• Maintaining a clean, safe kitchen and completing required checks and records.

What We’re Looking For

• Previous experience leading a professional kitchen as a Head Chef or in a similar senior role.

• Experience preparing meals for children or working in a nursery, school, or other childcare setting is an advantage.
