Job summary

Kellan Group is seeking an experienced Chef for temporary assignments across South West London. The role spans schools, care homes, contract catering, and restaurants with flexible shifts through our agency.

You will work with kitchen teams to ensure high-quality meals and food safety. A minimum of 6 months UK chef experience and an Enhanced DBS for the Child Workforce are required. Regular and ongoing local placements are available.

Key Responsibilities

• Preparing, cooking, and presenting high-quality meals.
• Assisting with menu planning and food preparation as required.
• Ensuring food is prepared and cooked in line with food safety standards.
• Maintaining a clean, organised, and hygienic kitchen environment.
• Monitoring food stock, storage, and rotation.
• Following food hygiene, health and safety, and allergen procedures.
• Working effectively as part of a busy kitchen team.
• Ensuring meals are prepared and served on time.
• Supporting the smooth day-to-day running of the kitchen.

Requirements

• A minimum of 6 months' professional chef experience in the UK is essential.
• A valid Enhanced DBS check for the Child Workforce is essential for all assignments. Applicants must already hold one or be willing to obtain one before starting work.
• Previous experience working in a professional catering or commercial kitchen.
• A good understanding of food hygiene, health and safety, and food allergens.
• Relevant food hygiene qualification is desirable.
• A reliable, punctual, and hardworking attitude.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• The ability to work efficiently under pressure in a busy kitchen environment.
• Flexibility to work across different locations and catering settings.
