Job summary

Trial Balance Consulting are recruiting on behalf of a specialist manufacturer and services business on the outskirts of Truro for an interim, full-time Assistant Accountant. The role offers hybrid working and starts ASAP, with support from a senior Finance Manager.

Applicants should have at least 12 months in an Accounts Assistant or Assistant Accountant position, ideally with manufacturing exposure. Strong IT and Excel skills, and superb communication with department heads, are essential.

Qualifications

• At least 12 months of experience at Accounts Assistant or Assistant Accountant level.
• Manufacturing experience desired but not essential.
• AAT qualification or QBE level is welcomed.
• Strong IT aptitude and excellent spreadsheet skills are essential.
• Excellent interpersonal skills to liaise with department heads.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the preparation of monthly management accounts.
• Handle accruals and prepayments.
• Perform variance analysis and budget reviews.
• Monitor accounts payable and ensure correct PO allocations.
• Assist with aged debtor management.
• Prepare balance sheet reconciliations and general reconciliations.
• Support in year-end audit preparations.

Temporary Assistant Accountant - Truro (outskirts) + Hybrid - £32,000 - £35,000 FTE

Trial Balance Consulting are delighted to have been re-engaged by one of our long-standing clients, a specialist manufacturer and services business based on the outskirts of Truro, who seek to recruit an experienced Assistant Accountant to join them on an interim basis. Commencing ASAP, this is a full-time role which can be operated on a hybrid working arrangement to suit the employer and successful candidate.

The role will be supported by a highly experienced Finance Manager and works as part of a small but efficient finance function.

Typical duties to include:

• Assisting with the preparation of monthly management accounts
• Accruals and prepayments
• Variance analysis and budget reviews
• Monitor accounts payable function ensuring correct allocation of PO numbers etc.
• Assist colleagues with aged debtor management
• Balance sheet and account reconciliations
• Assist in year-end audit preparations

We’re looking for a candidate with at least 12 months of recently gained experience operating at Accounts Assistant or Assistant Accountant level, ideally (though not essentially) within a manufacturing setting. The role would be particularly well suited to a recently qualified AAT candidate, or somebody with suitable exposure at QBE level. Strong IT aptitude and good spreadsheet skills are essential, as will be excellent interpersonal skills as the successful candidate will liaise with department heads throughout the business.
