Job summary

J C Bamford Excavators Ltd (JCB) is seeking a Telematics Senior Engineer to join the LiveLink team on-site. You will lead integration of telematics into JCB machine platforms, collaborating across hardware, software and product teams to deliver robust, data‑driven solutions that improve uptime, efficiency and safety.

You will define system requirements, perform validation, analyse telematics data and drive continuous improvement in connected technologies across the product range.

Qualifications

• Strong background in Electrical Engineering, Embedded Systems, Vehicle Electronics or related field.
• Experience with telematics hardware, IoT devices or connected vehicle tech.
• Familiarity with CAN, MQTT, Modbus or similar protocols.
• Ability to analyse data to support engineering decisions and product improvements.

Responsibilities

• Lead the integration of telematics systems into JCB machine platforms, ensuring compatibility, performance and reliability.
• Collaborate with software, hardware and design engineering teams to develop connected vehicle solutions.
• Define and document telematics system requirements, specifications and interface requirements.
• Conduct system testing and validation to ensure performance, reliability and safety standards.
• Investigate and resolve telematics integration issues, implementing corrective actions as required.
• Support the development and enhancement of JCB LiveLink and other connected technologies.
• Analyse telematics data to identify trends, diagnose issues and improve machine performance.
• Collaborate with Stakeholders across Engineering, Product Development and Service teams to deliver innovative telematics solutions.
• Support adoption of new connectivity, IoT and digital technologies across JCB’s product range.
• Contribute to continuous improvement and future telematics product development initiatives.
