Job summary

Pertemps Northampton is recruiting a Telehandler Operative to join Bailey’s Skip Hire at their recycling facility in Corby. This full‑time, ongoing role offers £14–£15 per hour, depending on experience.

You will operate 3.5T telehandler trucks for material movement, alongside heavy plant machinery to sort, load, and manage waste. Working hours are Monday to Friday, 6:00AM–6:00PM, with Saturdays optional (7:00AM–12:00PM) and frequency negotiable.

Qualifications

• Proven telehandler and heavy plant operation experience.
• Valid CPCS or NPORS card is required.
• Ability to work a 12‑hour shift on weekdays.
• Experience in waste management/recycling is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Operate 3.5T telehandler to move waste and load materials.
• Operate a 360 excavator and loading shovel as part of daily tasks.
• Perform daily pre‑start safety inspections and basic maintenance on machinery.
• Maintain safe yard operations and adhere to site safety rules.

You will ensure efficient yard operations working Monday to Friday, 6:00AM to 6:00PM, and you must have proven telehandler and heavy plant operation experience, a valid CPCS or NPORS card, and a strong commitment to site safety.

About the Role

• Location: Corby, Northamptonshire
• Salary: £14.00–£15.00 per hour (dependent on experience)
• Contract Type: Full‑time, Ongoing
• Key responsibilities include operating 360‑grab excavator, loading shovel, and 3.5T telehandler to manage waste at a busy recycling facility.

Working Hours & Shift Patterns

• Monday to Friday: 6:00AM – 6:00PM
• Saturdays: 7:00AM – 12:00PM (frequency negotiable – every Saturday or every other Saturday)

Key Responsibilities

• Safely operate a 360‑grab to sort, stockpile, and feed various waste streams into processing equipment.
• Use the loading shovel to move bulk materials and load bulkers or skips.
• Utilise the on‑site 3.5T telehandler trucks for transporting sorted materials and organising the yard safely.
• Complete daily pre‑start safety inspections and routine maintenance (greasing, fluid top‑ups) on all operated machinery.
• Maintain strict adherence to site health and safety rules within a busy, high‑volume waste environment.

Experience & Requirements (Essential)

• Proven track record working within the waste management or recycling industry.
• Hands‑on experience driving or operating a 360 excavator, loading shovel, or JCB.
• Relevant and valid plant cards (e.g., CPCS, NPORS) for 360 Excavator, Wheeled Loader, or Telehandler.
• Strong work ethic and the physical stamina required to handle a 12‑hour weekday shift pattern.
