Job summary

An opportunity has become available for a Telecoms Operator based in Tipton, reporting to the Telecoms Operations Team Manager (West Midlands)

As a Telecoms Operator you will be carrying out maintenance, inspection, supervision and installation tasks across the National Grid Telecoms network. You’ll be results driven, to ensure our National Grid Telecoms teams and customers receive excellent support and service.

The work will involve working alone and away from the depot. The working environment requires quick, decisive and responsible actions to meet the demands of the role. You will have challenging targets and will need to be flexible in your approach.

Main Responsibilities

You will:

• Carry out inspection and maintenance activities across our communications sites, as well as carrying out minor repairs where possible.
• Carrying out supervision of 3rd party contractors where required.
• Supporting and assisting communication engineers with installation work.
• Provide support to the National Grid Telecoms teams where required.

Ideal Candidate

You must be able to communicate effectively both verbally, and in writing, with customers and other team members and must be able to represent the company positively at all times.

You must be reliable, well organised and be able to work as part of a small team and you must be able to work using your own initiative. Possession of basic keyboard skills is desirable and full training will be given on the applications used.

As the post you are applying for attracts a National Security Vetting clearance there are further eligibility requirements. To meet national security vetting requirements you will normally need to have been resident in the UK for at least 5 years for Security Clearance (SC) prior to the date of application.
