Job summary

National Grid is seeking a Telecoms Network Management Centre Shift Engineer to join our Taunton team. You will support 24/7 monitoring and management of Telecoms and SCADA networks, coordinating with field engineers and contractors to ensure reliable service.

You will work a five-week shift pattern post training, with an initial period of office hours. A National Grid career offers opportunity to develop within a leading energy and telecoms network provider.

Qualifications

• Experience in a Network Management Centre or equivalent telecoms operations.
• Configuration and fault-finding in Layer 2/3 IP networks (switches/routers/firewalls).
• Experience with DWDM, MPLS-TP, Microwave, SDH/PDH is advantageous.
• Commits to delivering excellent customer service and clear communication.
• Eligible for UK Security Clearance (SC) with 5 years residency in the UK.

Responsibilities

• Provide front line operational support (1st/2nd line) in the NMC environment.
• Remotely configure network elements on Telecoms and SCADA networks.
• Manage own time to complete tasks efficiently.
• Work with contractors and witness acceptance tests where required.
• Collaborate with colleagues and customers to ensure continuous service.
