Job summary

AECOM is recruiting enthusiastic apprentices for the Technology Services team in the UK. You will support diverse projects across transportation technology, learning through on-the-job training and formal programs, while working towards a recognised professional qualification.

As you progress, you’ll take on more responsibility, contribute to design and delivery tasks, and gain experience across ITS, public transport tech, and smart motorway initiatives within a supportive, hybrid environment.

Qualifications

• GCSEs (Maths and English) at C/4 or above.
• Three A-Levels (or equivalent) including STEM subjects.
• Interest in technology, engineering or ITS with a desire for a career in the industry.
• Aptitude for engineering design, digital technologies and problem solving.
• Interest in CAD, data analysis or technology systems skills.
• Basic proficiency in Word/Excel/PowerPoint.
• Strong attention to detail and methodical approach.
• Good written and verbal communication, teamwork.
• Willingness to learn and take on challenges.
• Commitment to continuous learning and professional development.

Responsibilities

• Assist with preparation of engineering drawings and project deliverables.
• Support ITS and technology project development and delivery.
• Assist with feasibility studies and site investigations.
• Support preparation of design information, calculations and reports.
• Help collect and interpret technical data for projects.
• Assist planning, design and implementation of technology systems.
• Support projects involving public transport systems and back-office tech.
• Gain exposure to connected and autonomous vehicle tech and Mobility as a Service.
• Support sustainable tech projects like EV charging infrastructure.
• Attend site visits and meetings with clients and stakeholders.
• Collaborate with engineers, consultants, and designers across teams.
• Maintain project records and assist with administration.
• Develop understanding of engineering standards and best practices.
