Job description

Events Crew is an established UK event infrastructure, equipment hire and logistics business, supporting major sporting events, festivals, live entertainment, corporate events and other large-scale projects. With over 20 years of industry experience, Events Crew provides equipment, transport, installation and operational support to customers across the UK and Ireland. We are now looking to take the business to the next level by embracing technology, automation, data and AI to improve how we operate, serve our customers and grow.

The Opportunity

We are looking for an ambitious, commercially focused Technology & Digital Transformation Manager to lead the development and implementation of our technology strategy. This is an exciting opportunity to make a real difference in an established business. We are not looking for someone simply to manage computers, IT support or existing software. We want someone who can understand how our business operates, identify opportunities to improve it and introduce technology that delivers measurable commercial benefits. You will work directly with the business owners and operational teams to modernise our systems, streamline processes, reduce costs and create a more efficient and scalable business.

Key Responsibilities
1. Technology Strategy & Business Improvement
  • Review existing business processes, software and systems.
  • Identify manual, inefficient or duplicated processes that can be improved through technology.
  • Develop and deliver a practical technology roadmap.
  • Evaluate existing software solutions versus bespoke development.
  • Work closely with management to ensure technology investment delivers measurable returns.
2. Equipment & Asset Management
  • Introduce or improve digital equipment hire and inventory management.
  • Provide real‑time visibility of equipment availability, location and utilisation.
  • Improve stock tracking, equipment movements, maintenance and returns.
  • Identify opportunities to increase equipment utilisation and reduce losses.
3. Event & Project Management
  • Develop a centralised system to manage events from enquiry through to completion.
  • Integrate quotations, equipment bookings, transport, staffing and invoicing.
  • Improve communication between office staff, warehouse teams, drivers and event crews.
  • Introduce digital workflows, job sheets and event profitability reporting.
4. Sales, CRM & Customer Experience
  • Implement or enhance a CRM system to manage customers, enquiries and opportunities.
  • Improve quotation speed, accuracy and conversion.
  • Introduce automated customer follow‑ups and repeat‑booking reminders.
  • Explore customer portals and online booking capabilities.
  • Use customer data to identify new sales opportunities.
5. Transport, Logistics & Workforce Planning
  • Improve vehicle and delivery scheduling through technology.
  • Introduce digital driver instructions, delivery tracking and proof of delivery.
  • Explore route optimisation and vehicle utilisation.
  • Improve workforce scheduling, timesheets and labour cost reporting.
  • Connect transport and workforce costs to individual events.
6. Data, Reporting & Business Intelligence
  • Develop management dashboards showing key operational and financial performance.
  • Provide visibility of revenue, gross profit and profitability by event.
  • Track equipment utilisation, transport costs and workforce productivity.
  • Automate reporting and reduce reliance on spreadsheets.
  • Help management make better decisions using accurate, timely data.
7. AI & Automation
  • Identify practical opportunities to introduce AI across the business.
  • Automate repetitive administration and customer communications.
  • Explore AI‑assisted quoting, document processing and reporting.
  • Use historical information to improve planning and forecasting.
  • Ensure appropriate security, data protection and human oversight.
8. Technology Delivery & Supplier Management
  • Research, select and implement suitable software platforms.
  • Manage relationships with external developers, consultants and technology providers.
  • Oversee system integrations, testing and implementation.
  • Maintain appropriate cybersecurity, access controls and data protection.
  • Train and support employees to ensure new systems are successfully adopted.
About You

We are looking for someone who combines strong technical knowledge with commercial awareness and a practical approach to solving business problems.

Essential experience and skills:
  • Experience implementing technology or leading digital transformation within a business.
  • Strong understanding of business systems, CRM, databases and software integrations.
  • Experience with automation, reporting and data analysis.
  • Ability to understand operational challenges and translate them into technology solutions.
  • Experience managing technology projects from concept through to delivery.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritise projects and manage external suppliers.
  • Strong communication skills and confidence working directly with senior management.
  • A commercial mindset, focused on efficiency, profitability and measurable results.
Desirable experience:
  • Equipment hire, rental, logistics, transport, construction or event management industries.
  • Microsoft Power BI, Power Automate or similar tools.
  • CRM platforms such as HubSpot.
  • Equipment rental or inventory management software.
  • API integrations and cloud‑based business applications.
  • Practical experience implementing AI and workflow automation.
  • Software development experience or the ability to manage developers.

You do not need to be an expert in every technology. We value someone who knows how to identify the right solutions and get them implemented.

What Success Looks Like

Within your first 12 months, we would expect you to:

  • Complete a comprehensive review of our existing systems and business processes.
  • Deliver an agreed technology roadmap with clear priorities and budgets.
  • Improve visibility and control of our equipment and assets.
  • Introduce more efficient processes for managing events, quotations and customers.
  • Deliver meaningful automation that reduces manual administration.
  • Provide management with reliable operational and financial dashboards.
  • Demonstrate measurable improvements in productivity, customer service or profitability.
Why Join Events Crew?

This is not a traditional IT management position. You will have the opportunity to shape the future of an established business, work directly with its owners and introduce technology that makes a genuine difference. We want someone with ideas, ambition and the confidence to challenge existing ways of working. You will have the opportunity to take ownership of the technology strategy and play a key role in the company's future growth.

If you enjoy solving real business problems with technology and want a role where your work has a visible commercial impact, we would love to hear from you.
