Job summary

Kier Group in Manchester/Newcastle or Birmingham is seeking a Technology Design Engineer to support highways technology solutions across the full project lifecycle. Qualifications

  • Degree (or equivalent) in Electrical, Electronic, Communications or Technology Engineering.
  • Experience in highways or infrastructure technology design.
  • Knowledge of National Highways standards (DMRB, TA401).
  • Experience with ITS, communications or digital infrastructure systems.
  • Knowledge of ITS, telecoms/IP networks, and power/control systems.
  • Experience using CAD or digital engineering tools.
  • Strong problem-solving and ability to deliver to deadlines.
  • Clear communication and collaborative stakeholder approach.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver technology design across ITS, communications, power and digital infrastructure
  • Produce drawings, specs and technical documentation (2D/3D)
  • Ensure compliance with DMRB, National Highways and industry standards
  • Apply design assurance, supporting reviews and gateway compliance
  • Identify and mitigate technical risk for right-first-time delivery
  • Support ITS, comms networks and smart / IoT-enabled infrastructure
  • Collaborate with clients, stakeholders and multidisciplinary teams
  • Contribute to bids, innovation, digital engineering and team development

We're looking for an Technology Design Engineer to join our Technology Design team based in Manchester/Newcastle or Birmingham.

Location: Manchester/Newcastle or Birmingham - with agile working opportunity

Hours: 40 hours per week - some flexibility on hours available if desired, just let us know when you speak to us.

Starting: from £42,000 per annum

Sector: Mechanical Electrical and Technology - Highways

What will you be responsible for?

As an Technology Design Engineer, you'll be working within the Technology Design team, supporting them in delivering high-quality highways technology design solutions. Your day to day will include:
