Job summary

Kier Group, a UK infrastructure specialist, seeks an Engineer – Highways Design to join our Civil Engineering team in Salford, Greater Manchester. You will produce highways designs, drawings, and reports within the National Highways Scheme Delivery Framework, ensuring briefs, timescales and budgets are met.

You will work with senior engineers, deliver feasibility studies, assessments, and technical documentation, and support on-site investigations while mentoring junior staff and promoting

Qualifications

• Member of a professional body or working towards IEng/CEng status.
• Working as an engineer in a similar role or environment.
• Strong working knowledge of civil engineering design software (e.g., AutoCAD).

Responsibilities

• Prepare preliminary and detailed highway designs and drawings per procedures for local/national authorities.
• Deliver technical and feasibility studies meeting client specs and budgets.
• Assess risks, materials and costs, ensure compliance with regulations and prepare technical documentation.
• Mentor junior staff and promote technical excellence across the team.
• Maintain client relations and promote health and safety on site.

We're looking for an Engineer –Highways Design to join our National Highways scheme delivery framework team based in Salford, Greater Manchester.

Location: Salford, Greater Manchester
Hours: 37.5 hours per week - some flexibility on hours available if desired, just let us know when you speak to us.

What will you be responsible for?

As an Engineer – Highways Design, you'll be working within the Civil Engineeringteam, supporting them on the National Highways SchemeDelivery Framework contract producing highways designs, drawings, reports and documentation in accordance with the brief, timescales and budgetary allocation.

Your day to day will include:

• Preparing preliminary and detailed designs in accordance with approved design procedures for local and national authorities, providing support to the Senior Engineer of thedesign team on various design duties including but not limited to, producingdesign schedules, health, safety and welfare contract documentation in accordance with the Construction, Design & Management Regulations 2015 Design drawings and associated documents
• Delivering technical and feasibility studies that satisfy client's technical specifications
• Assessing potential risks,materials, and costs, complying with Kier's & client's guidelines and regulations including permits, safety etc and deliver technical files and other technical documentation as required, conducting on site investigations and analysing data (maps, reports, tests, drawings and other)
• Contributing towards technical excellence and innovation across the team, providing innovative solutions to engineering problems, complying with Kier's SHEMS and KDTS IMS, agreeing delivery targets and report regularly on progress towards milestones, overseeing and mentor junior staff
• Maintaining good relations with clients and other authorities, attending meetings as necessary, promoting health & safety in the workplace, setting a good example to other employees
