Interaction Recruitment is seeking a Technologist to join the Fall Arrest testing team in Kettering. The role focuses on testing PPE used for working at height, including harnesses and lanyards, with hands-on equipment handling. You will perform routine tests to European and International standards, record results accurately, and produce detailed reports.

Qualifications

• GCSEs in English and Maths at grade C or above.
• Valid driving licence and passport with ability to travel.
• Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Word.
• Strong attention to detail and accurate record keeping.

• Excellent time management and adaptability to changing priorities.

• Willingness to undertake physical work, including setting up test arrangements at ground level and at height.

Responsibilities

Salary: £29,000 - £31,000 DOE

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Technologist - Fall Arrest to join a well-established Safety Product Testing team based in Kettering.

The successful candidate will work predominantly within the Fall Protection PPE area, arranging and conducting testing on a range of equipment used for working at height, including harnesses, lanyards, connectors and anchors. There will also be opportunities to become involved in other areas of PPE testing over time.

The organisation works with a global customer base, carrying out testing to ensure that Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) meets the required International and European standards. Testing results are used by customers for product development and to support CE and UKCA certification.

The Role

The successful Technologist will be responsible for:

• Conducting routine physical testing of PPE in accordance with relevant International and European standards
• Operating specialist test equipment and accurately recording test results
• Producing detailed reports based on physical testing results
• Liaising with customers by telephone, email and in person
• Arranging and hosting customer test visits both on-site and at customer premises
• Travelling to customer sites in the UK and overseas, with off-site visits potentially accounting for up to 50% of the role
• Arranging and conducting manufacturer site audits relating to production control processes
• Working outdoors at ground level and at height for prolonged periods when required
• Supporting the ongoing development and improvement of testing facilities, procedures and processes
• Ensuring testing is completed accurately and within agreed deadlines
• Contributing to continuous improvement and identifying opportunities to develop the service and wider business
• Full training will be provided across the technical aspects of the role where required.

About the Candidate

The ideal candidate will be highly organised, methodical and enthusiastic, with the ability to work independently while also contributing effectively within a wider team.

Applicants will ideally have

• GCSEs or equivalent in English and Maths at Grade C or above
• A valid driving licence and passport, with the ability to travel within the UK and overseas
• Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word
• Strong attention to detail and an accurate approach to record keeping and documentation
• The ability to follow detailed testing procedures and methods
• Excellent time management skills and the flexibility to manage changing priorities and deadlines
• Good communication and customer service skills
• A willingness and ability to undertake physical work, including setting up test arrangements at ground level and working at height
• Previous experience working with customers

Desirable Experience

Experience in any of the following areas would be advantageous:

• Working at height or with fall protection PPE
• Industrial roofing or factory environments
• Factory or manufacturing site auditing
• Forklift truck operation
• Working with technical standards or quality systems, particularly ISO 17025
• Mechanics or physics
• UK or overseas business travel
