Job summary

Pertemps Northampton is seeking a Laboratory Testing Technician in Kettering, Northamptonshire. The role involves performing routine physical testing on safety products, operating specialist equipment and recording results to recognised standards.

You will join a collaborative team and receive comprehensive training, with a salary of up to £26,000 per annum and 37.5 hours per week. On-site parking is available and there are opportunities to develop within a technical testing environment.

Laboratory Testing Technician

Location: Kettering, Northamptonshire

Salary: Up to £26,000 per annum

Hours: 37.5 hours per week

The Opportunity

We are recruiting for a Laboratory Testing Technician to join a well-established technical organisation specialising in product testing and compliance services. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is detail-oriented, practical, and keen to develop a career within a laboratory and testing environment.

The successful candidate will become part of a collaborative team responsible for testing a broad range of safety products to ensure they meet recognised industry standards and performance requirements.

About the Role

As a Laboratory Testing Technician, your responsibilities will include:

• Carrying out routine physical testing of safety and protective products in accordance with recognised standards and procedures.
• Operating specialist testing equipment and recording accurate results.
• Preparing samples prior to testing.
• Maintaining laboratory equipment, work areas and sample storage facilities.
• Processing test data and maintaining electronic records.
• Supporting senior technical staff with customer visits and demonstrations where required.
• Ensuring all work is completed safely, accurately and within agreed timescales.
• Comprehensive training will be provided to support your development within the role.

About You

Essential Requirements

• GCSEs (or equivalent) in Maths, English and Science.
• Good IT skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and Teams.

• Ability to follow procedures accurately.
• Good organisational and time management skills.
• Reliable and self-motivated approach to work.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Positive attitude and willingness to learn.

Desirable Experience

• Previous laboratory or testing experience.
• Experience working with safety equipment or technical products.
• Confidence using Microsoft Excel and Outlook.
• Understanding of quality systems and compliance procedures.
• A flexible approach with a desire to develop new skills.
