Job summary

RNLI is seeking a Technician Mechanic in Poole to maintain launch and recovery vehicles and service marine engines, hydraulics and fuel systems. This role requires fault diagnosis, reading drawings, and adapting to new equipment.

You will contribute to fabrication and repairs, ensuring safety and high standards, while communicating effectively within a team and with supervisors.

Qualifications

• Sound technical knowledge with fault diagnosis ability.
• Experience with marine fuel systems and engines is desirable.
• Ability to read drawings and meet production deadlines.
• Willingness to adapt to new equipment and projects.

Responsibilities

• Maintain RNLI launch and recovery vehicles and trailers.

Job description

As a Technician Mechanic, you will be tasked with focus on the following areas:

• RNLI launch and recovery vehicles and trailers
• Marine petrol\\diesel outboard and inboard engines, fuel systems and associated control systems
• Working with systems such as hydraulics, cooling, fuel and control mechanisms
• Fabrication and repairs
• Able to adapt to new equipment and machinery as new projects arise
• Reading and working with drawings, meeting production deadlines and working to a high standard
• Basic knowledge of DC electrical systems
  You'll be practical, adaptable and have good attention to detail. To be considered as the Technician Mechanic you will need:
• Sound technical knowledge and to be competent in fault diagnosis
• You will have successfully completed a time served apprenticeship or equivalent with the relevant City and Guilds or NVQ3 qualification
• Ideally you should also have experience in Marine Fitting installations boat construction within a boatyard/factory environment and have the ability to learn new skills
• This role would also suit someone with transferable experience from other industries i.e. automotive trade
• For the role of Technician Mechanic you should have good communication skills to provide technical support and advice as well as the ability to work as part of a team and alone on occasion whilst following and applying safe working practices.

• £16.48 per hour (annual salary £31,707.52 to £35,992.32 dependent on experience and hours worked)
