Job summary

Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) seeks a seasonal lifeguard to promote beach safety, deliver safety guidance, respond to incidents, and provide swift rescue assistance as required.

Applicants must be 18+, hold CC4LG, NVBLQ/ILS or equivalent, a valid driving licence, and pass fitness/competency tests. The post is time sheeted and hourly paid, with progression from Grade 1 to Senior based on SPR reviews.

Job description

As an RNLI lifeguard, you will play a crucial role in keeping beachgoers safe by:

• Sharing safety advice with beachgoers to prevent incidents (95% of the work is preventative).
• Responding to first aid incidents and assisting with missing/found persons.
• Providing a swift rescue response to anyone in difficulty.
• Must be over 18 years of age.
• Must hold a valid CC4LG qualification.
• Must hold a valid driving licence.
• Must have a grading of meets expectations or above from their most recent SPR review, Being an RNLI lifeguard is both challenging and rewarding. No two days are the same, and to excel in this role, you should be:
• Focused, vigilant, and proactive.
• Approachable and passionate about helping people stay safe.
• Professional with excellent people and rescue skills.
• Hold a National Vocational Beach Lifeguard Qualification (NVBLQ), ILS Beach/Surf Lifeguard award, or equivalent.
• Pass fitness and competency tests and meet health and eyesight requirements, as the job can be physically demanding.
