Job summary

Rivan Industries in London is developing modular synthetic fuel systems and seeks an Electrical Technician to build and wiring electrical control panels for our cutting-edge systems. You will integrate panels with sensors and actuators, and ensure tidy cable management across complex assemblies.

You will test electrical hardware to defined specs, record results, and assist with R&D builds. Relocation support and strong safety emphasis accompany this role.

Qualifications

• 2–5 years wiring industrial electrical control panels and integrating electrical machines.
• Understanding of EN 60204-1 and BS7671 standards.
• Experience testing industrial hardware and contributing to test practices during design.
• Commitment to safe working practices, especially in hazardous environments.
• CompEx training related to electrical installations.

Responsibilities

• Build electrical control panels and wire looms with proper cable management.
• Install panels into larger systems and connect sensors/actuators.
• Test panels using multimeters, HiPot testers and Meggers; record data accurately.
• Coordinate with Team Lead and Quality for fault finding and rectification.
• Assist R&D electrical builds and contribute to new designs and testing.

Job description

Rivan Industries (Rivan.com) is a synthetic fuel company designed to decarbonise heavy industry. We aim to make synthetic fuel cheaper than fossil fuels and sustain life on earth by keeping the CO2 locked underground.

We design and manufacture modular synthetic fuel plants consisting of a DAC system, an Alkaline Electrolyser, and a Sabatier Reactor, vertically integrating with off-grid DC solar and the European gas-grid. Here’s our manifesto on how we plan to do it. We’ve recently deployed the UK’s largest synthetic fuel plant and are planning to 1000x this scale in the next 2 years.

We’re looking for an Electrical Technician as we continue to expand into our new 60,000 sq ft manufacturing and R&D facility in London, and simultaneously deploy our hardware at project sites. This is someone who understands how to build electrical control panels, and integrate them into cutting edge synthetic gas producing systems, which are shipped and installed at deployment sites.

The role:

Building of Electrical Control Panels

• Wiring of electrical control panels including single and three phase power, 230VAC control circuits, and PELV DC control circuits.
• Must have strong experience working with common tools to build electrical control panels (e.g ferrule crimping tools, wire strippers, etc).
• Wiring of electrical connectors into looms and cables. Pristine cable management is essential.

Electrical Fitting Out of Large System Assemblies

• Built electrical control panels will be installed into the larger system, and connected to all associated equipment (sensors, actuators).
• It is essential that this can be completed efficiently, with cable management/tidiness an essential requirement.

Testing of Electrical Systems

• Use of multimeters, loop meters, HiPot testers, and Meggers to conduct routine testing of each electrical control panel built against pre-defined specifications.
• You will record test data promptly and accurately against each panel, ensuring the highest quality standards are maintained.
• Where testing fails, you will coordinate with your Team Lead, and Quality Department to fault find, and rectify any issues.

Assistance with R&D Electrical Builds

• The core function of the role is to manufacture operationally ready electrical systems, to be shipped to deployment sites for use. Occasional projects will occur where R&D teams will require electrical systems to be built for testing.
• The role will see varied work as new systems are designed, built and tested. This gives a great opportunity to be involved with the next evolution of equipment from start to finish.

Safety

• Rivan Industries considers safety the utmost importance. It is critical in this role that the operations conducted within the team are to the highest safety standards conducted safely.
• Safety is every staff member’s responsibility, however during testing of hazardous systems such as pressure vessels. Safety must be held to the highest standards.

The role will report directly to the Machinist Technician.

Core skills:

• 2-5 years experience experience wiring industrial electrical control panels and electrical machine integration
• Understanding of panel wiring and electrical integration to BS EN 60204-1, and BS7671 standards
• Experience of testing both industrial hardware, and providing input into test practices during system design
• Understanding of general safe working practices, ensuring safety is maintained
• Understanding of ATEX electrical installations (BS EN 60079-11)
• CompEx trained relating to electrical installations

• £40 - 50k salary depending on experience
