Job summary

Rivan Industries in London is seeking an Electrical Commissioning Engineer to own end-to-end commissioning from factory acceptance through site integration and site acceptance, ensuring systems run autonomously. You will lead LV setup, commission solar arrays and plant electricals, and validate interfaces with site infrastructure.

The role emphasizes hands-on fault diagnosis, field presence on live sites, and shaping the commissioning blueprint for scalable, safer deployments across 100MW–1GW

Qualifications

• Design and deliver end-to-end electrical commissioning from factory acceptance to site acceptance.
• Lead electrical commissioning on multi-site deployments and ensure systems run autonomously.
• Experience with LV, LV/HV interfaces, and hazardous area environments (ATEX).
• Familiarity with SCADA, HMI, PLC commissioning and loop checking.

• Design and lead the temporary and permanent low voltage setup for each site.
• Commission our solar arrays and plant electrical systems, from first energisation to steady operation.

• Commission SCADA, remote monitoring and control, so sites can be run and diagnosed from anywhere.
• Feed commissioning back into design to improve future deployments.
• Define how Rivan commissions electrical systems for faster, safer sites.

Job description

Rivan Industries (Rivan.com) is a synthetic fuel company designed to decarbonise heavy industry. We aim to make synthetic fuel cheaper than fossil fuels and sustain life on earth by keeping the CO2 locked underground.

We design and manufacture modular synthetic fuel plants consisting of a DAC system, an Alkaline Electrolyser, and a Sabatier Reactor, whilst vertically integrating with off-grid DC solar and the European gas-grid. We’ve recently deployed the UK’s largest synthetic fuel plant and are planning to 1000x this scale in the next 2 years.

As our Electrical Commissioning Engineer, you'll work in Rivan’s Deployment team to ensure every system and sub-system successfully completes factory acceptance testing, site integration and site acceptance testing until they’re operating autonomously.

This starts with delivering Rivan’s first commercial project to export gas directly into the grid. You’ll then step up to lead electrical commissioning teams on larger 100MW and 1GW projects. Importantly, you will help define the blueprint we use to rapidly and safely commission our systems at scale.

The role:

• Define how Rivan commissions electrical systems, so each site is faster and safer than the last.

Core skills:

• Installation, commissioning, testing and operation of electrical systems
• Comfortable commissioning equipment that has never run before, where the drawing may be wrong and the answer isn't in a manual
• Hands-on fault finding, anomaly detection and diagnosis
• DC power generation, inverters and energy storage systems
• Experience with the Machinery Directive and Low Voltage Directive
• Confident holding the line on safe systems of work during energisation and live testing.
• Thrives in the field. You'll spend meaningful time on active project sites
• Hazardous area commissioning (ATEX)
• PLC / HMI / SCADA commissioning and loop checking
• Solidworks Electrical or equivalent ECAD packages
• Functional safety standards (IEC61508 and related)
• Industrial communications protocols (ModbusTCP and ModbusRTU, CANBus, OPC-UA)

• £60-80k Salary depending on experience
