Brief Description

You'll help keep our nation moving every single day.

A critical part of our work is the daily upkeep of the rail network. As a technician, you'll work outdoors in a team, supporting essential maintenance to keep the railway running safely and smoothly for passengers and freight users.

Note

There may be a requirement to work on call if you opt for the standard maintenance contract.

About the role (External)

Our technicians are the vital link between team leaders and operatives. They specialize in various disciplines; for this role, you'll become a specialist in:

  • Distribution & Plant: You'll work on keeping power flowing through electrified rails, ensuring the railway has the power for trains, signals, and stations. You'll work outdoors in all conditions, often transporting equipment across challenging terrain. Safety, respect for rules, and teamwork are critical, especially working near moving trains.
Your role in the team

As a natural team player, you'll be able to lead when asked, delivering work safely and checking your team's competencies. You'll be a role model for safe behaviors and confident in challenging unsafe situations.

  • Pre-employment checks: Drug and alcohol testing, medical assessment, BPSS checks, hearing and eyesight exams.
  • Driving: Must hold a category B driving license.
  • Commute: Within 60 minutes of the location.
