Job summary

Auto Skills UK is recruiting a Vehicle Technician in Newcastle. The role offers a basic salary of £31,000–£34,000 with uncapped OTE up to £39,730 and a £3,000 productivity bonus, plus time-bonuses and Saturday overtime payments.

You will join a modern workshop with manufacturer training and Hybrid/EV accreditation, supporting steady career progression. The position is full-time and permanent, with 40-hour weeks (1 in 3 Saturdays) and ongoing training to develop technical expertise in servicing,

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Vehicle Maintenance and Repair.
• Previous experience as a Vehicle Technician or Vehicle Mechanic in automotive industry.
• Experience in franchised dealership or independent garage.
• Full UK Manual Driving Licence.
• Strong servicing, maintenance, and diagnostic skills.

Responsibilities

• Carry out servicing, maintenance, and repair work.
• Complete vehicle health checks using the latest diagnostic technology.
• Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and electronic faults.
• Carry out repairs to manufacturer standards.
• Identify additional work and report findings accurately.
• Complete workshop documentation and job cards.
• Collaborate with the workshop team to maximise efficiency.

Hours: 40 Hours, Monday to Friday, 8:30am - 5:00pm | 1 in 3 Saturdays, 8:30am - 12:30pm

THE ROLE

As a Vehicle Technician, you'll play a key role within the workshop, carrying out servicing, maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs while ensuring every vehicle is completed to the highest manufacturer standards.

Key responsibilities include:

• Carrying out servicing, maintenance, and repair work
• Completing vehicle health checks using the latest diagnostic technology
• Diagnosing mechanical, electrical, and electronic faults
• Carrying out repairs efficiently and to manufacturer standards
• Identifying additional work and reporting findings accurately
• Completing workshop documentation and job cards
• Working collaboratively with the wider workshop team to maximise efficiency and productivity
• Delivering exceptional workmanship and first-class customer service

ABOUT YOU

• NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Vehicle Maintenance and Repair
• Previous experience as a Vehicle Technician or Vehicle Mechanic within the automotive industry
• Experience gained in either a franchised dealership or independent garage
• Strong servicing, maintenance, and diagnostic skills
• Previous Audi or Volkswagen Group experience is advantageous but not essential, as full manufacturer training will be provided
• A positive attitude with a willingness to learn and develop
• Excellent attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality workmanship
• Full UK Manual Driving Licence
