Job summary

  • Able to build effective relationships with contributors of varying experience.
  • Clear and constructive feedback communication.
  • Experience using a knowledge base platform or content management system would be an advantage.
  • Experience using AI-powered tools would be an advantage.
  • Terminology management experience would be an advantage.
  • Understanding of database principles and SQL concepts would be an advantage.
  • Experience in financial services or regulated environments would be an advantage.

Responsibilities

  • Support the creation, review and maintenance of technical and business documentation for the knowledge base.
  • Assist with the review of articles written by developers, support teams and business contributors prior to publication.
  • Provide clear, constructive feedback to improve article quality, accuracy, consistency and usability.
  • Check that articles follow approved templates, style guides, terminology standards and governance requirements.
  • Support contributors by answering documentation queries and directing them to relevant standards.
  • Work with subject matter experts to gather, validate and clarify information.
  • Help identify documentation gaps and contribute improvements across the knowledge base.
  • Apply approved terminology, definitions and naming conventions.
  • Use approved AI tools to assist with documentation creation, review and improvement.
  • Support established documentation processes that use AI tools and contribute improvements.
  • Carry out administrative knowledge base tasks, including organising content and maintaining article records.

Job Description:

Our client is looking to appoint a Technical Writer to support a clear, consistent and reliable knowledge base by helping to create, review and improve technical and business documentation.

This is a varied role, working closely with developers, support teams and business stakeholders.You'll create documentation from scratch, review content written by others, and help contributors produce articles that are accurate, consistent and aligned with agreed standards.

You will provide constructive feedback, answer documentation queries and help ensure articles follow approved templates, structures, style guides, terminology standards and governance requirements.You will also support established documentation processes that use AI tools, suggest practical improvements where appropriate and carry out administrative knowledge base tasks.

Skills/Experience:
  • Some experience creating, updating or maintaining software documentation
  • Basic understanding of software development concepts or an interest in developing this knowledge
  • Ability to research and interpret technical information
  • Experience proofreading or reviewing written content and providing constructive feedback
  • Strong written communication skills, strong attention to detail, and the ability to explain information clearly
  • Ability to follow templates, style guides, terminology standards and documentation processes
  • Good organisational skills and the ability to manage priorities and several tasks while maintaining good standards
  • Confident using Microsoft 365 applications, including Word, Outlook and Teams
  • Committed to producing documentation that is accurate, consistent and easy to use
  • Proactive, collaborative and willing to learn
  • Able to build effective working relationships with contributors who have different levels of documentation experience
  • Clear and constructive in communication, especially when providing feedback
  • Experience using a knowledge base platform or content management system would be an advantage
