Job summary

The Mick George Group is hiring a Technical Waste Assessor to provide technical support to the waste department and the wider organisation, ensuring compliance with WM3 guidance, relevant legislation and environmental permits. The role involves classification of waste, coordination with laboratories, and timely handling of non-conformances.

Based at the Head Office with site work as required, the position runs Monday to Friday 8am–5pm.

Qualifications

• Experience applying WM3 in waste management and reporting.
• Understanding of chemical waste analysis and SDS documentation.
• Ability to prepare compliant waste transfer paperwork.

Responsibilities

• Technically assess waste inquiries using WM3 guidance.
• Apply ADR regulations to classify waste for transport.
• Update Waste Compliance Manager and provide regular updates.
• Prepare responses to Environment Agency requests and CAR/WAR reports.
• Ensure compliance with legislation, permits, licenses and exemptions.
• Liaise with labs for sample analysis and manage NCRs.
• Coordinate with customers, operations and sales for timely action.
• Generate Waste Transfer Notes and consignment notes.

Job Overview:

To provide technical support to the technical waste department and the wider organisation to ensure that the business remains compliant with relevant legislation and our environmental permits.

Responsibilities

• Technically assess all waste enquiries generated by the sales team or direct enquiries using the current EA technical guidance document WM3.
• Understand and apply ADR regulations to classify waste for transportation.
• Ensure the Waste Compliance Manager is properly updated of any issues arising and provided with regular general updates.
• Prepare responses to Environment Agency information requests, CAR and WAR reports
• Ensure compliance of all waste assessments with current legislation, relevant permits, licences, and exemptions.
• Liaise with internal and external laboratories where sample analysis is required.
• To ensure that all Non-Conformance Reports (NCR’s) are identified are dealt with passed to the originator of the enquiry in a timely manner.
• Liaise with customers, operations, compliance, customer services and sales to ensure customer satisfaction.
• Work with operations for off-site disposal.
• Ensure all clients requests are acted upon promptly and efficiently.
• Answer all telephone calls promptly.
• To be diligent and respect the confidentiality of the information to which they are party.
• General administration as and when required.
• Assist in Duty of Care audits for existing and new customers.
• To maintain effective record keeping and documentation to accepted/approved methods and procedures.
• Generation of compliant Waste Transfer Notes and consignment notes.

Skills/ Qualifications

• Working understanding and previous experience of how to apply WM3.
• In depth understanding of technical / chemical waste analysis and SDS’.
• Working knowledge and experience of producing compliant duty of care waste transfer paperwork.
• Excellent MS Office skills.
• Ability to be methodical and flexible in approach to tasks.
• A pro-active team member.
