Salary: Circa £63,000

This is a great job for someone whohas a strong background in Commercial SME underwriting and is looking for an opportunity to shape underwriting appetite, influence product development, and drive improvements in the direct-to-customer journey. This role would suit someone who enjoys combining technical underwriting expertise with strategic thinking, working collaboratively across the business to deliver better outcomes for customers and sustainable growth for Aviva.

A bit about the job:

We're investing in the future of our SME Direct business and are looking for a Technical Underwriter to play a key role in that journey.

Working within a growing and highly visible team, you'll use your underwriting expertise to help expand our appetite, enhance product offerings, and improve the experience we provide to customers. You'll work closely with colleagues across Underwriting, Claims, Operations and Product teams to deliver meaningful improvements that support both customer needs and business growth.

This is an exciting opportunity to influence how our products evolve, helping to shape underwriting strategy while ensuring we continue to provide competitive and compelling solutions for SME customers.

Skills and experience we’re looking for:

• Strong Commercial SME underwriting experience with broad cross-class knowledge.

• A deep understanding of underwriting principles, risk assessment and market dynamics.

• Ability to build effective relationships and collaborate with stakeholders across multiple business functions.

• Experience contributing to product development, underwriting proposition enhancement, or process improvement initiatives.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify opportunities and successfully deliver solutions.

• Salary: Circa £63,000 (depending on location, skills, experience, and qualifications)
