Job summary

Ecclesiastical Insurance, part of Benefact Group, is seeking a Technical Underwriter to join our Gloucester office. You will act as a technical specialist for Commercial Property and Liability underwriting within the Direct Commercial Underwriting Team, providing expert support on complex cases and governance.

Qualifications

• Strong technical expertise in Commercial Property and Liability underwriting, including risk assessment, coverage, pricing, policy terms and conditions.
• Proven experience underwriting complex Commercial Property and Liability risks with sound judgement.
• Knowledge of portfolio management, rate adequacy, risk quality and market trends.
• Understanding of underwriting governance and regulation, product governance and conduct requirements.
• Leadership skills with experience coaching and developing underwriting teams.
• Willingness to contribute to product, pricing and process improvements with stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Develop, negotiate and profitably underwrite new and existing Commercial Property and Liability business.
• Provide senior technical underwriting expertise and referral support for risk acceptance, pricing and policy wording.
• Monitor portfolio performance and identify trends to improve underwriting quality.
• Coach and develop underwriting capability across the team with training and updates.
• Collaborate with stakeholders on market developments and governance.
