Job Title: Technical Underwriter

Target Start Date: ASAP

Contract Type: Permanent, Part Time, Full Time, Job Share option available

Salary Range: £35,200 - £52,800

Location: Eastleigh once a month

About the Role

The Technical Underwriting Team at Ageas provides technical expertise to deliver products and product changes in line with business and regulatory requirements, maintaining their integrity throughout the product lifecycle. Essentially, they act as ‘Product Controllers’.

Main Responsibilities

• Maintain and develop underwriting rules and technical processes, recommending changes to maximize market opportunities, growth, profitability, and address poor performance areas.
• Lead and support projects to ensure products remain fit for purpose, systems and processes are maintained, and deliver within deadlines.
• Contribute to policy cover development, technical processes, and rating structures, and communicate changes across Ageas and its partners.
• Evaluate new schemes, affinity, and product propositions to determine the best underwriting and technical processes for growth and profit.
• Ensure policy wordings and technical documentation are updated to meet business needs.

Skills and Experience

• GCSE English and Math essential; A-level standard or equivalent experience preferred.
• Previous experience in Personal Lines underwriting is essential.
• Certificate in Insurance, with progress towards CII Diploma preferred.
• Strong understanding of underwriting, pricing principles, and technical issues, including policy wording construction.
• Knowledge of the personal lines market and current legal/industry developments.
• Organized, thorough, with good project management, attention to detail, and risk evaluation skills.
