Job summary

Arqit Limited in Belfast is seeking a Technical Team Lead to balance hands‑on software engineering with team management across the UK. The role splits time between technical leadership, delivery and people management, and requires strong mentoring capability.

You will guide architecture, oversee full‑stack changes with your engineers, participate in Agile ceremonies, review code, and partner with product management to drive high‑performing, scalable systems.

Qualifications

• Proven experience building horizontally scalable enterprise software and services.
• Experience with cloud service development (public/hybrid/private cloud PaaS or SaaS).
• Experience leading/mentoring engineering teams, including remote staff management.
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
• Demonstrated passion for software development through self-learning and projects.
• Experience with database development (SQL and NoSQL).
• Experience with design patterns, refactoring and OO design.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and organizational skills.
• Ability to work with high autonomy and accountability.
• Adaptability and pragmatism in a fast-moving environment.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with software architecture and product management to advance post-quantum technology.
• Transform architecture into component designs ready for incremental development and deployment.
• Lead and work with software, automation and DevOps engineers to implement, review, test and deploy full‑stack changes.
• Analyse deployment metrics to ensure resiliency and performance.
• Resolve issues raised by customers and internally.
• Participate in Agile development activities and support team growth.
• Lead, mentor and grow a team of engineers across the UK.
• Set clear technical direction, priorities and delivery goals.
• Conduct code reviews and uphold engineering standards.
• Support hiring, onboarding and performance management.
• Foster a high‑performing, inclusive culture aligned with company values.
