Job summary

Installio is seeking a Technical Survey Engineer to lead site surveys and design for residential heat pump and solar installations across the UK. You will ensure heating systems are technically sound, energy efficient, and tailored to each home.

You will conduct on-site surveys, perform heat loss calculations and sizing, and support installation teams with project guidance and occasional maintenance. A background in plumbing or renewable heating is valued.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in heat pump systems.
• Strong understanding of building fabric and heat loss.
• Hydronic system knowledge.
• Familiar with MCS standards and compliance.
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
• Able to work in a fast-paced startup.
• Willing to drive to up to 2 surveys daily.
• Clean UK driving licence.
• NVQ 3 or above in plumbing or heating.

Responsibilities

Tasks

We're looking for a Technical Survey Engineer to spearhead the surveying and system design process for residential heat pump and solar installations. You’ll play a critical role in ensuring every install is technically sound, energy efficient, and tailored to the customer's home. You’ll lead site surveys (in-person on site), develop accurate heat loss calculations, as well as support our field teams with occasional reactive maintenance and servicing.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone with hands-on plumbing or renewable heating experience, looking to move off the tools.

Responsibilities:

• Lead technical site surveys (on-site) to assess heat pump suitability

Requirements

You’ll be an experienced heating engineer with knowledge of heating system design and the ability to fault find.

• Proven experience in heat pump systems

• Strong understanding of building fabric, heat loss, and hydronic systems

• Good with customers

• Familiarity with MCS standards and compliance requirements

• Excellent attention to detail and ability to balance efficiency with accuracy

• Comfortable working in a fast-paced, evolving startup environment

• Willing to drive to up to 2 surveys each day

• Clean UK driving licence

• NVQ 3 or above qualification in plumbing or heating

Preferable:

• BPEC or equivalent qualification in heat pump design

• Experience leading a team or managing technical workflows
