Job description

Do you have a background in heavy plant or off highway vehicle diagnostics and customer support? We are looking for a Technical Support Engineer to provide expert assistance to our external customer base and internal departments.

Technical Support Engineer: Off Highway Vehicles / Heavy Plant and Equipment

Salary: GBP 40,000-50,000 + benefits

Location: Cambridge

Working in a small team of dedicated Technical Support Engineers, you will be responsible for a specific product range for a major vehicle manufacturer and distributor, acting as the subject matter expert for construction vehicles.

The main duties include providing specialist technical support for your product portfolio to ensure internal and external customers receive exceptional service and achieve optimal machinery performance. Technical queries may range from simple oil specification or torque setting questions to complex diagnostic issues requiring further research, analysis, and investigation.

Core Competencies for This Role Include

• Experience in heavy plant or similar construction machinery is highly desirable. Knowledge of brands such as CAT, Develon, Doosan, Hitachi, Volvo, Komatsu, Liebherr, Terex, Hydrema is advantageous. Experience with commercial vehicles, agricultural plant, or military vehicles is also relevant.
• Previous experience as a Service Engineer, Workshop Engineer, or Support Engineer is highly desirable.
• Proven diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
• An inquisitive mindset, willingness to learn new technologies, and effective information dissemination skills.
• Engineering qualification such as NVQ, C&G, BTEC, or Degree level, or equivalent experience.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, along with strong IT skills.
• Team player, flexible to job requirements.
