BFT Automation, part of the SomfyGroup, is seeking a Technical Support Engineer in Swindon to diagnose faults, inspect motors and control panels, and guide professional installers through wiring and commissioning. You will work with a small UK team, providing telephone and hands-on support to ensure reliable operation and quick resolution of issues.

Qualificações

• Sound knowledge of electrics, basic electronics and mechanical systems.
• Ability to interpret wiring diagrams, technical manuals and product instructions.
• Proven problem-solving and fault-diagnosis skills.
• Clear communication with installers, calm and professional telephone manner.

Responsabilidades

• Provide telephone support to professional installers, guiding through installation, wiring, programming, commissioning and fault diagnosis.
• Develop knowledge of BFT product range, including motors, control panels, transmitters and safety accessories.
• Use structured questioning to distinguish between product faults, installation issues, incorrect settings and mechanical or electrical causes.
• Explain technical instructions clearly and patiently, adapting to the installer's knowledge and experience.
• Take ownership of enquiries, record advice and agreed actions, and follow up to Technical Manager.
• Inspect and test returned motors, control panels and components to identify faults and repair as needed.
• Carry out repairs within competence and verify operation before return.
• Document test results and repair work for traceability and customer communication.
• Follow safe working practices when handling electrical, mechanical and hydraulic equipment.
• Share technical knowledge with colleagues to improve support quality.
• Work with sales and warehouse colleagues to provide accurate information and timely assistance.
• Assist with order packing during busy periods.
