Energy Jobline ZR in Oxford is seeking a Technical Support Engineer to bridge the engineering team and customers, ensuring reliable software releases and smooth deployments across edge hardware and cloud platforms.

You will diagnose complex issues, write robust test plans, and support OTA deployments, while collaborating with product and engineering teams to improve the next generation of Spatial AI solutions for construction and geospatial sectors.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or related field (or equivalent).
• About 2+ years in technical support, QA or test engineering.
• Strong Linux/Ubuntu command-line experience.
• Python and Bash scripting proficiency.
• Experience with Docker and containerised environments.
• Familiarity with ROS/ROS2 and debugging nodes.
• Git and modern CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions/GitLab CI).
• Debian/apt package management understanding.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Comfortable explaining technical concepts to non-technical users.

Responsibilities

• Act as the primary technical support contact for customers deploying the company's technology.
• Diagnose, troubleshoot and resolve hardware and software issues.
• Document technical solutions and convert feedback into development tasks.
• Design, develop and execute comprehensive test plans across software, hardware and cloud platforms.
• Carry out regression, integration and end-to-end testing.
• Validate cloud portal functionality and secure API communications.
• Own the software release process, including testing, version control and deployment.
• Work closely with engineering teams to ensure successful releases.
• Support over-the-air (OTA) software deployments to field devices.

Technical Support Engineer

Oxford, UK (Hybrid – 3 days office / 2 days remote)

My client is an innovative, fast-growing technology company developing cutting-edge Spatial AI solutions for the construction, surveying and geospatial sectors.

Our client is looking for a Technical Support Engineer to become the link between their engineering team and customers, ensuring software releases are reliable, thoroughly tested, and successfully deployed. You'll play a key role supporting advanced hardware and software platforms that combine multi-sensor data, edge computing and AI to generate highly accurate 3D spatial models in real time.

As the Technical Support Engineer, you will:

• Act as the primary technical support contact for customers deploying the company's technology.

Essential Skills & Experience:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related discipline (or equivalent commercial experience).
• Around 2+ years' experience in a similar technical support, QA or test engineering role.
• Strong Linux/Ubuntu command-line experience.
• Proficiency in Python and Bash scripting.
• Experience working with Docker and containerised environments.
• Familiarity with ROS / ROS2, including debugging nodes and analysing rosbag data.
• Experience with Git and modern CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI or similar).
• Understanding of Debian/apt package management.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Comfortable supporting customers and explaining technical concepts to non-technical users.

Desirable Experience:

• Experience with SLAM technologies and testing localisation or mapping systems.
• Exposure to AWS cloud services.
• Knowledge of React and/or Node.js environments.
• Experience working with NVIDIA Jetson hardware or similar embedded edge devices.
• Understanding of OTA deployment solutions for embedded platforms.
• Previous experience working within a start-up or high-growth technology business.
