We welcome people from all walks of life and celebrate individuality. We know diverse minds, experiences and backgrounds help us to learn and better serve our customers and the communities where they live.

If you want to do more because you care, we’d love to talk to you. There really is something for everyone here.

EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW

Our WQ and E (Water Quality & Environment) team have an opportunity for you to join as our new Water Quality Regulations Technical Specialist on a 12 month basis

In your new role, you will be part of a unique team that interacts with all areas of the business. One moment, you might be speaking to network control to understand a complex network issue, and the next, presenting to senior leaders on regulatory matters. The Water Quality Regulations Team supports Severn Trent Water in ensuring compliance with drinking water quality regulations. This team is the primary conduit for all interactions with our quality regulator, the Drinking Water Inspectorate, which means there is a strong element of stakeholder management within the role.

As part of the team, you will be involved in compliance reporting, critically assessing investigations, and identifying areas to drive improved performance to reduce impacts on regulatory performance metrics. You will also interpret legal instruments and statutory legislation, with support, and must be able to understand complex situations and report effectively and clearly to both internal and external stakeholders.

Please note that the role may require participation in an out-of-hours standby rota.

Key accountabilities

  • To provide the primary company interface with the Drinking Water Inspectorate to ensure that routine communication, liaison and reporting is completed to a high quality with no regulatory criticism
  • To manage the interface with DWI in such a way that positive relationships are maintained and best possible outcomes
  • To manage the interface with the business to ensure there is clear and wider understanding of regulatory requirements and the implications to the business of not meeting these
  • Provision of accurate and timely briefings for the business on key communications from the DWI
  • Support on all aspects of the water quality regulations including historic, current and emerging issues and to minimise the impact of implementation of new regulations and guidance

WHAT WE'ER LOOKING FOR

In order to be successful in this role, you must have essential experience and knowledge of water quality regulatory processes within the UK, as well as drinking water quality matters. Desirable experience includes knowledge and experience of water treatment and distribution processes and activities.

Qualifications required for this role include a degree or equivalent in a relevant scientific discipline and experience working within the water industry or a regulated environment.

Additionally, membership of an appropriate professional body is desirable.

A full UK driving license is needed for this position.
