Job summary

Gold Group in Smethwick is seeking a Technical Services Manager (Fabric) to lead and develop maintenance services across fabric and grounds. You will manage staff, liaise with multi-disciplinary teams and drive service quality using Maximo to monitor PPMs and contracts.

Qualifications

• City and Guild or equivalent qualification in a relevant discipline.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Head of Estates in providing and delivering a high-quality maintenance service.
• Actively manage and monitor completion of all PPM activities with the Maximo system across fabric, grounds and gardens.
• Negotiate with subcontractors and suppliers to provide a cost-effective service with reference to contract SLAs.
• Oversee budgetary control of allocated budgets and assist with financial controls across contracts and stock.
• Participate as a member of the Estates Team with AP/RP status across disciplines as required.
• Participate in on-call rota after training and gain relevant experience.

Technical Services Manager needed for a large well known Facilities Management organisation based in Smethwick who are looking to employ an experienced and well-rounded Technical Services Manager that takes pride in their work.

The successful candidate need to have experience in managing staff, be self-motivating, able to work on own initiative, and be able to liaise and delegate effectively with staff operating in a multi-disciplinary environment

What the role entails:

Some of the main duties of the Technical Services Manager will include:

• The role is to assist the Head of Estates in the provision and deliver of a high-quality maintenance service
• Actively manage and monitor appropriate completion of all PPM activities in conjunction with the Assistant Technical Services Managers for fabric and grounds and gardens items using the Maximo system, with consideration to statute, Regulations, ACOP's and Guidance (HTM's)
• Undertake negotiations with subcontractors and suppliers to provide a cost-effective service with reference to the contract SLA's
• Responsible for budgetary control of allocated budgets and give additional assistance with financial controls across other areas of the contract with reference to departmental budget, stock, contracts etc.
• Participate as a member of the Estates Team by achieving Authorised Person (AP) or Responsible Person (RP) status in a number of disciplines as required and directed by Senior Management Team which will include the following key disciplines along with any other disciplines deemed necessary: Medical Gas Systems, Fire, Confined Spaces, Working at Heights
• Required to participating in the 'on call' rota as and when required, after suitable training and relevant experience is gained as directed by Senior Management. On call cover may also include participation in Winter Maintenance on-call.

What experience you need to be the successful Technical Services Manager:

• City and Guild or equivalent qualification in a relevant discipline
• High level of verbal, written and numeric skills and must be computer literate
• A sound knowledge of standard spreadsheet packages and computerised estates and project management systems
• Must be able to manage people, be self-motivating, able to work on own initiative, and be able to liaise and delegate effectively with staff operating in a multi-disciplinary environment
• Able to demonstrate a sound understanding of technical and estates and building issues in the provision of construction, maintenance and FM services
• Good organizational skills and the ability to communicate at all levels
• Driving Licence
