Job summary

Vita Recruitment is assisting a growing main contractor in South Woodford to recruit an experienced Technical Services Manager with a strong mechanical and electrical building services background.

The role focuses on technical delivery across multiple construction projects, from design development through to installation, testing and handover, with nationwide site visits and regular liaison with clients, consultants and subcontractors.

Qualifications

• Experience as Technical Services Manager or similar in construction.
• MEP installation and design coordination experience.

Technical Services Manager - Main Contractor

Our client, a successful and growing main contractor based in South Woodford, is seeking an experienced Technical Services Manager to join their team on a permanent basis.

An exciting opportunity to join a growing main contractor in a brand-new role, offering the chance to make a real impact and play a key part in the technical delivery of construction projects.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Technical Services Manager with a strong mechanical and electrical building services background to take responsibility for the technical management and coordination of MEP services across construction projects.

The successful candidate will oversee technical services from design development and pre-construction through to installation, testing, commissioning and project completion, ensuring that all building services are technically compliant, properly coordinated and delivered in line with project programmes, specifications and client requirements.

Working closely with clients, consultants, MEP subcontractors, suppliers and internal project delivery teams, you will provide technical leadership, resolve complex building services issues and ensure the successful delivery and integration of mechanical, electrical and public health services.

Please note: This is primarily an office-based position at the company's South Woodford office. However, the successful candidate will also need a full UK driving licence and access to their own vehicle, as regular travel to construction sites nationwide will be required.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee the technical delivery of mechanical, electrical and public health services across construction projects, from pre-construction through to completion.
• Provide technical guidance and support throughout design development, installation, testing, commissioning and handover.
• Review technical drawings, specifications, submissions and installation details, ensuring compliance with Building Regulations, British Standards and project requirements.
• Liaise with MEP consultants, subcontractors, suppliers and internal project teams to coordinate technical information and resolve issues.
• Manage technical queries, design changes, technical submissions and complex MEP installation and coordination challenges.
• Monitor technical progress and ensure building services information is delivered in line with project programmes.
• Identify and manage technical risks, ensuring potential issues are addressed before they impact project delivery.
• Carry out regular nationwide site visits to monitor progress, review technical matters and provide support to project teams.
• Attend technical meetings and provide guidance to ensure projects are delivered within agreed timescales, budgets and quality standards.

Essential Requirements

• Previous experience working as a Technical Services Manager, MEP Manager, Building Services Manager or in a similar technical building services role within the construction industry.
• Strong technical knowledge of mechanical and electrical building services, including MEP installation and design coordination.
• Experience working for a main contractor or a strong understanding of main contractor project delivery.
• Proven experience managing or coordinating MEP technical packages on construction projects.
• Good understanding of commissioning requirements, Building Regulations, British Standards and relevant industry requirements.
• Ability to review and interpret technical drawings, specifications and construction documentation.
• Experience coordinating MEP consultants, subcontractors and wider project stakeholders.
• Strong communication, organisational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities.
• Full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle, with flexibility to travel to construction sites nationwide.
