Job summary

Linea Recruitment is working with a well-known MEP contractor in Buckinghamshire to recruit a Technical Services Manager. You will own MEP design and technical delivery across multiple projects, leading from tender through handover.

Key focus: coordinating mechanical, electrical, public health and controls packages, reviewing designs, and ensuring regulatory compliance. A strong communicator with a broad MEP background is essential.

Qualifications

• Strong MEP background with mechanical or electrical bias.
• Proven experience as Technical Services Manager or similar role.
• Understanding of HVAC, public health, electrical and controls systems.
• Experience managing design from RIBA Stage 3/4 through construction and commissioning.
• Confident communicator; capable of leading meetings with clients and contractors.

Responsibilities

• Lead MEP technical and design management from tender to handover.
• Review Employer's Requirements, designs and specs; identify risks and value engineering opportunities.
• Coordinate design with in-house and subcontract designers (M, E, P and controls).
• Approve technical submittals, RFIs, drawings, and calculations.
• Support pre-construction with technical input on bids, cost and risk.
• Oversee BMS/controls strategies, testing, commissioning and witnessing.
• Ensure compliance with Building Regulations and client standards.
• Manage O&M manuals and handover documentation.
• Mentor engineers and support project teams across live projects.

Linea Recruitment is working with a well-known, established MEP contractor in Buckinghamshire to recruit a Technical Services Manager. With a strong reputation for delivering high-quality mechanical and electrical services across commercial, education, healthcare, residential and mission-critical projects, the business is continuing to grow and is looking for a technically strong leader to own MEP design and technical delivery across its project portfolio.

This is a key role, sitting between pre-construction, design and operations. You'll be the technical lead from tender through to handover, making sure projects are designed, coordinated and commissioned properly.

The role

• Lead MEP technical and design management from tender stage through to handover
• Review Employer's Requirements, consultant designs and specifications, identifying risks, gaps and value engineering opportunities
• Manage the design process, including in-house and subcontract designers, coordinating mechanical, electrical, public health and controls packages
• Review and approve technical submittals, RFIs, drawings and calculations
• Support the pre-construction team with technical input on bids, cost and risk
• Oversee BMS and controls strategies, testing and commissioning, and witnessing
• Ensure compliance with Building Regulations, CIBSE guidance, the Building Safety Act and client standards
• Manage O&M manuals, as-built information and handover documentation
• Mentor engineers and support project teams across multiple live projects

About you

• Strong MEP background with a mechanical or electrical bias, gained within a contractor or design-and-build environment
• Proven experience as a Technical Services Manager, MEP Design Manager or Senior Building Services Engineer
• Sound understanding of HVAC, public health, electrical and controls systems
• Experience managing design from RIBA Stage 3/4 through to construction and commissioning
• Confident communicator, comfortable leading meetings with clients, consultants and main contractors
• Degree or HNC/HND in Building Services or a related discipline; CIBSE membership desirable
• SMSTS and CSCS card desirable
