Job summary

Quest Employment Ltd. is seeking a Sales Engineer in Peterborough to bridge customers, the sales team and workshop. You will shape specifications, answer technical questions and ensure proposals are technically sound and commercially viable.

The role involves frequent communication with customers, suppliers and internal teams, including attending meetings and industry events. A degree in Engineering is preferred and a hands-on, detail-focused approach is valued.

Qualifications

• Experience in a technical/engineering or similarly detailed environment.
• Ideally degree-level education in Engineering.
• Ability to translate technical information for non-technical customers.
• Strong communication skills across customers, suppliers and internal teams.
• Good IT skills including Microsoft Office.
• Excellent organisational and administrative abilities.
• Ability to prioritise and manage multiple requests.
• Confident speaking on the phone and in meetings.
• Understanding of high-value capital equipment or vehicle-related products is advantageous.
• A practical, hands-on approach to problem solving.

Responsibilities

• Prepare technical drawings, specifications and weight calculations for body-mounted equipment.
• Ensure specifications meet chassis manufacturer and installation requirements.
• Collaborate with OEMs, chassis manufacturers, bodybuilders and suppliers.
• Support the sales team with technical information to secure business and protect margins.
• Own technical and specification queries for customer orders.
• Act as the link between sales and workshop for technical issues.
• Identify new markets, applications and product solutions.
• Understand customer requirements and translate into the right technical solution.
• Support bids and proposals to ensure complete technical detail.
• Build relationships with chassis and equipment suppliers.
• Liaise with colleagues across Aebi Schmidt locations on specs and pricing.
• Monitor market, competitor activity and future customer needs.
• Attend sales meetings, exhibitions and industry events.
• Provide ongoing product and technical training to sales teams.
