Job summary

Adecco Group UK & Ireland is seeking a Sales Engineer in Peterborough to provide technical and product support to the sales team and customers. The role combines engineering knowledge with customer interaction and commercial awareness.

You will handle specifications, drawings, and proposals, train internal teams, and build strong relationships with manufacturers, suppliers, and clients. A Mechanical Engineering degree or related discipline is essential.

Qualifications

• Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering or closely related discipline.
• Strong technical aptitude and ability to understand engineering drawings and specifications.
• Excellent communication and customer-focused approach.
• Organised and able to manage multiple tasks.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and IT systems.
• Experience in sales engineering or applications engineering desirable.
• Knowledge of high-value engineered products or capital equipment is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Produce technical specifications, drawings and calculations to support customer requirements.
• Ensure proposed solutions meet manufacturer guidelines and engineering standards.
• Provide technical support and guidance to the sales team and customers.
• Prepare and review technical content for quotations, tenders and proposals.
• Work closely with manufacturers, suppliers and external partners regarding product specifications and installation requirements.
• Identify suitable products and solutions based on customer needs.
• Manage all technical and specification-related aspects of customer projects and orders.
• Act as the technical link between commercial and operational departments.
• Research market trends, industry developments and competitor activity.
• Attend customer meetings, exhibitions and industry events.
• Build strong relationships with customers, suppliers and key stakeholders.
• Deliver product and technical training to internal teams.
