Job description

We’re looking for a Technical Resource Coordinator to join our Waste Operational Control Centre in Reading. This is a varied role where no two shifts are quite the same. You’ll help coordinate our response to operational issues, support teams in the field and play an important part in preventing pollution, flooding and Health & Safety incidents.

You don’t need to come from a wastewater background. If you’re organised, comfortable juggling different priorities and able to react quickly when something changes, we’d like to hear from you.

Please note, this is a 6-month secondment contract.

What you’ll be doing as a Technical Resource Coordinator

You’ll be part of our 24/7 operational team, helping to keep things running smoothly. Your day-to-day work will include:

  • Coordinating responses to reports of above-ground asset failures and escalating issues when needed.
  • Managing real-time scheduling, including out-of-hours reactive work.
  • Supporting first responders dealing with pollution and compliance incidents.
  • Making sure high-priority jobs are progressed within the required timescales.
  • Completing live scenario checks before confined-space sewer entries to help ensure work can be carried out safely.
  • Working closely with our Field and Site Managers to resolve operational issues and support customers.
Base location:

Kemble Court, Reading, with hybrid working of 10 days in the office and 4 days from home.

Working hours:

This is a 24/7 shift role, with both day and night shifts:

  • Days: 6:30am–6:30pm.
  • Nights: 6:30pm–6:30am.

The rotating pattern includes longer periods of time off between shifts and may include weekends.

What you should bring to the role

We’re looking for someone who is organised, responsive and enjoys working as part of a team. You don’t need to be highly technical, as this is primarily a coordination and administration-focused role. But the ability to prioritise effectively and manage multiple tasks in a busy environment is essential.

Skills and experience that would be beneficial for this role:
  • An understanding of the water or wastewater industry.
  • Experience using Click and Workforce Management systems.
  • Customer service, planning or scheduling experience.
  • Experience allocating SCADA alarms.
Additional skills that would make you stand out:
  • Good commercial awareness and an understanding of how customer outcomes can have financial implications.
  • Experience managing challenging customer cases or complaints.
  • Confidence working with complex information and using it to make informed decisions.
What’s in it for you?
  • This role will be paid from £29,535 up to £37,000 depending on skills and experience
  • Annual Leave - 24 days holiday per year increasing to 28 with the length of service (plus bank holidays)
  • Performance-related pay plan directly linked to company performance measures and targets.
  • Generous Pension Scheme through AON.
  • Access to lots of benefits to help you take care of you and your family’s health and wellbeing, and your finances – from annual health MOTs and access to physiotherapy and counselling, to Cycle to Work schemes, shopping vouchers and life assurance.
