Job summary

AO World PLC in Bolton is seeking a Technical Manager to own the technical approval of OEM and direct import products from concept to launch. You will collaborate with suppliers and internal teams to shape product quality, testing and regulatory compliance, including UKCA standards, ensuring a reliable customer experience.

Qualifications

• Experience with consumer electrical products and product development processes.
• Strong knowledge of product quality, testing and compliance requirements.
• Understanding of UKCA regulations and technical documentation.
• Experience with manufacturers, suppliers, testing laboratories or third-party inspection providers.
• Ability to assess product design and customer-focused performance.

Responsibilities

• Own the technical approval and ongoing management of OEM and direct import products.
• Develop product specifications and technical requirements with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
• Lead product testing, sample reviews and QA activities for launches.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements including UKCA.
• Review technical docs, user manuals and product content for accuracy.
• Work with suppliers and inspection partners to maintain quality and approvals.
• Support packaging development for AO's logistics and delivery network.
• Analyze customer feedback and warranty trends to identify improvements.
• Investigate technical issues, perform root-cause analysis and drive corrective actions.
• Build relationships across teams to improve product performance.
• Support future category expansion into small domestic appliances, personal tech and smart tech.
