Socode in Cambridgeshire is seeking a Technical Project Manager to lead delivery of complex technology projects across operations. This hands-on role sits between engineering, operations and external vendors, owning projects from scope to completion with focus on cost, schedule and quality.

You will drive continuous improvement, introduce Agile practices within a traditional waterfall environment, manage risks, stakeholder communications and capital investment programmes, and ensure on-time,

Socode are partnering with a Cambridgeshire-based technology company developing advanced industrial systems used in high-performance manufacturing environments. As the business moves into its next phase of growth, they’re looking to bring in a Technical Project Manager to lead delivery of complex technology projects across their operations function.

This is a hands‑on delivery role sitting between engineering, operations and external vendors. You’ll own projects from scope through to completion, with a focus on continuous improvement and capital investment programmes. You’ll make sure every project lands on time, within scope and within budget.

What will you be doing?

• Managing end-to-end delivery of technical projects across the operations function
• Defining project scope, goals, timelines and deliverables with input from key stakeholders
• Maintaining project plans, risk registers, resource requirements and financial forecasts
• Acting as the main point of contact for your projects and keeping stakeholders clearly updated
• Championing technical documentation and robust engineering change control
• Working with engineering teams to define solutions and making sure standards are followed
• Introducing Agile ways of working within a traditional waterfall environment
• Identifying and managing risks and issues before they impact delivery
• Coordinating with third‑party vendors and suppliers where required
• Driving continuous improvement in how projects are run across the business

What are they looking for?

• 5–8 years’ experience managing technical projects
• A technical background, ideally within an engineering or manufacturing environment
• Hands‑on experience of Agile delivery
• Clear and confident communication style, able to explain technical concepts to a range of audiences
• Strong organisation, planning and prioritisation skills, with real attention to detail
• Proven stakeholder management, with a track record of on‑time, on‑budget delivery
• Degree in Engineering, Science or a related technical discipline

Nice to have

• Experience with Jira and MS Project (not essential, as training is available)
• PMP, PRINCE2 or Agile certifications
• Exposure to CAPEX or continuous improvement programmes
• Experience managing third‑party vendors
