Job summary

Yorkshire Water is recruiting a Technical Project Assistant to support the Infrastructure team on health and safety, audits, and site oversight across the region. You will work in a hybrid role, combining on-site activity with flexible office-based tasks.

Qualifications

• Strong stakeholder management and relationship-building across internal and external teams.
• Ability to plan and prioritise work to meet deadlines and deliver results.
• Collaborative approach and ability to work cross-functionally.
• Confident in influencing and negotiation in stakeholder discussions.
• Experience in a commercially focused and/or regulated environment is desirable.
• Operational experience on clean water networks is desirable.
• Holding a full, valid UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Drive health, safety, risk management, and control of work to meet Yorkshire Water’s Safety Policy.
• Report accidents, hazards, near misses, and dangerous occurrences within required timescales.
• Support the Infrastructure team with wider objectives through strong individual performance.
• Provide on-site technical assurance and auditing.
• Build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
• Identify and escalate health and safety issues during audits, with authority to stop work if necessary.
• Audit site resources, plant and equipment to support contractor payments.
• Provide technical support and training based on audit findings.

Location

Hybrid working, Buttershaw, Bradford, from Summer 2026 Valley Park, Leeds. The role is predominantly site-based but we do have a hybrid working policy

Work type

Permanent. 37 hours per week, Monday – Friday.

Where you fit in

As our Technical Project Assistant, you will be:

• Driving excellent standards in health, safety, risk management, and control of work to meet Yorkshire Water’s Safety Policy.
• Reporting accidents, hazards, near misses, and dangerous occurrences within required timescales.
• Working as part of the Infrastructure team to support wider team objectives through strong individual performance.
• On-site technical assurance and auditing .
• Building and maintaining relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
• Identifying and escalating health and safety issues during audits, with authority to stop work if necessary.
• Auditing site resources, plant, and equipment to support contractor payment claims.
• Providing technical support and training based on audit findings.

What skills & qualifications you will need

• Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to build and maintain relationships internally and externally.
• Ability to plan and prioritise work to deliver results effectively.
• A collaborative approach, working well with others to achieve shared goals.
• Confident influencing and negotiation skills.
• Experience in a commercially focused and/or regulated environment (desirable).
