About the Team & Role

The Transport Team plays a key role in delivering technology change across our operations, helping ensure groceries reach customers efficiently and reliably. We are responsible for a broad portfolio of products, projects and programmes that support colleagues and customers across the UK, Republic of Ireland and Central Europe.

Our work spans both store replenishment and home delivery, covering everything from how products are moved through our network to how customer deliveries are planned and fulfilled.

Within the team, our Technical Programme Managers (TPMs) lead complex technology change that improves how we operate and delivers measurable value for customers and colleagues. TPMs are central to helping the business adapt, innovate and realise the benefits of strategic investments.

Lead the successful delivery of projects and programmes from initial concept through to launch, ensuring benefits are realised and changes are embedded for the long term.

As part of the TPM team, you will work across a varied portfolio of initiatives, partnering with senior leaders, business stakeholders, Product, Engineering, UX/UI teams and fellow TPMs. The role combines ownership within a specific domain with responsibility for larger cross-functional programmes.

A key focus of this specific role is supporting how we offer home delivery slots to customers and how we forecast and plan deliveries across both Whoosh and Grocery Home Shopping (GHS). This includes working on optimisation technologies, collaborating closely with operational teams, and delivering tools that help colleagues manage planning and operational decisions more effectively.

This is a high-impact role with direct influence on both customer experience and operational performance. The work is particularly important during peak trading periods, when balancing delivery capacity with customer demand is critical.

This will include assessing the viability and value of a program or project and the readiness of the teams and stakeholders to take on the program.

Stakeholder management:

Develop and deliver stakeholder engagement strategies and plans. Identify, manage, and communicate effectively with a diverse group of stakeholders. Ability to show empathy, listen actively and express ideas and facts in a clear and confident manner both verbally and written. Ability to influence without authority and report, present, manage meetings and facilitate effectively.

Program Communications:

Program training:

Identifying education and training requirements and working closely with the Training Team to develop suitable solutions and training offers.

People-focused:

Be the ‘go to’ person for expertise on how to deliver and manage Programs. Represent the end user and Support Teams throughout and understand the experiences of both the customer and teams supporting the processes. Assist in the provision of transition support to a sustainable business as usual environment.

  • A highly resilient self-starter who can operate autonomously, drive complex programmes forward with tenacity, and maintain pace and positivity in ambiguous and challenging environments
  • Experience of shaping programs with ambiguous scope and uncertain delivery approach with significant cross-functional complexity
  • Highly numerate, able to analyse and understand data with the ability to create different kinds of forecasting models and calculate business cases
  • Able to converse confidently about the technology stack in the areas they are representing
  • Operates as the programme’s central leader and figurehead, owning stakeholder engagement, acting as the central point of contact. Energising and driving outcomes primarily through influence rather than positional authority.
