Job summary

Molex in Scotland is seeking aTechnical Operator to work with Thick Film deposition equipment within a precision manufacturing environment for aerospace and defence applications.

You will read engineering drawings, set up and monitor advanced production machinery, and use digital manufacturing systems to meet strict quality and productivity targets. Training colleagues and maintaining cleanroom standards are also part of the role.

Qualifications

• Experience operating Thick Film deposition equipment or similar advanced manufacturing technologies.
• Ability to read and accurately interpret technical and engineering drawings.
• Experience in aerospace, defence or other high-technology production environments.
• IPC Certification or relevant assembly/manufacturing qualifications.
• Knowledge of AS9100 Quality Management Systems.
• Experience working in a cleanroom environment.

Responsibilities

• Operate Thick Film manufacturing equipment and set up/adjust production machinery.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings and work instructions.
• Record production, quality and traceability data using electronic systems.
• Conduct inspections with precision measuring equipment and report non-conformances.
• Support continuous improvement and training of colleagues on new equipment.

Working within a modern and technologically advanced manufacturing environment, you will operate sophisticated equipment, assemble precision-engineered components, and utilise digital manufacturing systems to deliver products that meet the highest industry standards.

The Opportunity

As a Technical Operator, you will be responsible for:

• Thick Film manufacturing equipment.
• adhering to/maintaining the high levels of cleanliness required
• Reading and interpreting technical drawings, understanding both component-level requirements and the wider manufacturing process.
• Manufacturing and assembling aerospace components and assemblies in accordance with engineering drawings, specifications, and work instructions.
• Setting up, adjusting, and monitoring advanced production machinery to achieve quality, productivity, and operational targets.
• Utilising digital manufacturing systems, electronic work instructions, and production software to complete work accurately and efficiently.
• Carrying out routine equipment inspections and first-line fault finding.
• Recording production, quality, and traceability data using electronic manufacturing systems.
• Conducting inspections using precision measuring equipment and quality inspection tools.
• Identifying and reporting non-conformances and supporting corrective actions.
• Contributing to continuous improvement activities and supporting the implementation of new manufacturing technologies.
• Ensuring compliance with AS9100 standards, customer requirements, and aerospace and defence regulations.
• Maintaining a safe, organised, and compliant manufacturing environment.
• Supporting the development of colleagues by training and mentoring team members on new equipment and processes.

What We're Looking For

We are looking for a hands-on manufacturing professional who combines strong technical capability with a commitment to quality and operational excellence.

• Experience operating Thick film deposition equipment or similar advanced manufacturing technologies
• Proven ability to read and accurately interpret technical and engineering drawings.
• Experience working within a manufacturing, engineering, aerospace, electronics, or other high-technology production environment.
• Strong technical aptitude with excellent practical engineering skills.
• Experience operating manufacturing equipment, machinery, or automated production systems.
• Ability to understand and work from technical specifications, assembly instructions, and engineering documentation.
• Experience using precision measuring and inspection equipment.
• Good computer literacy and confidence using digital manufacturing systems.
• Strong attention to detail with excellent problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team while following structured manufacturing processes.
• A proactive approach to continuous improvement and operational excellence.
• IPC Certification or relevant assembly/manufacturing qualifications.
• Knowledge of AS9100 Quality Management Systems.
• Previous experience within aerospace, defence, or other highly regulated industries.
• Experience training or mentoring colleagues on manufacturing equipment and processes.
• Experience working within a cleanroom environment
