Job summary

Premier Foods is seeking a motivated Technical Operator to join its manufacturing team in a fast-paced production environment. You will operate and monitor line equipment, carry out routine checks and contribute to daily targets while upholding safety and quality standards.

You will work within a flexible shift pattern, including days, afternoons, and nights, with the option of a 4-day 10-hour cycle as needed. The role requires adherence to GMP and continuous improvement ideas.

Qualifications

• Experience in commercial food production or catering.
• NVQ Level 2 in Catering.
• Food Safety Level 2 qualification.
• Detail-oriented with a methodical approach to work.
• Positive, energetic and self-motivated attitude.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Flexibility to work a rotating shift pattern.
• Willingness to learn.

Responsibilities

• Operating and monitoring production equipment and machinery.
• Carrying out routine line checks and basic fault finding.

Contract and Shift Pattern

Contract: Temporary, with the opportunity to become permanent

Shift Pattern: The successful candidate must be fully flexible and able to work and rotate between both a 3-shift pattern (Monday to Friday: Days, Afternoons and Nights) and a 4-day, 10-hour rotating shift pattern (Monday to Thursday), as required to meet business and operational needs.

• 3-shift rotation (Monday - Friday):
  • Days: 6:00 am - 2:00 pm
  • Afternoons: 2:00 pm - 10:00 pm
  • Nights: 10:00 pm - 6:00 am
• 4-day, 10-hour rotating shift pattern (Monday to Thursday):
  • 6:00 am - 4:00 pm
  • 4:00 pm - 2:00 am

Job Overview

We are looking for a motivated and safety-conscious Technical Operator to join our manufacturing team. As a Technical Operator, you will play a key role in the efficient running of the production line, operating equipment and machinery, supporting continuous improvement activities, and helping the team achieve production targets.

What You'll Be Doing

• Operating and monitoring production equipment and machinery.
• Carrying out routine line checks and basic fault finding.
• Supporting the achievement of daily production targets.
• Maintaining excellent hygiene and Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) standards.
• Completing production records and quality documentation accurately.
• Identifying and reporting safety or quality concerns.
• Working collaboratively with colleagues to ensure smooth shift handovers and efficient operations.
• Contributing ideas for continuous improvement and process optimisation.
• Operating forklift trucks safely where required (training/authorisation provided where applicable).

What We're Looking For

Essential:

• Experience working in a commercial food production or catering environment.
• NVQ Level 2 (or equivalent) in Catering.
• Food Safety Level 2 qualification (or equivalent).
• Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to work.
• A positive, energetic, and self‑motivated attitude.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Flexibility to work a rotating shift pattern.
• Strong work ethic and willingness to learn.

Desirable:

• Food Safety Level 3 qualification.
• HACCP Level 2 qualification.
• Previous experience operating manufacturing or production machinery.
